On engagement day ...
Finally the day has come and our family was invited to in-laws house for engagement ceremony. The video & photo graphers got everything covered starting from my step one out of the car. The pandit kept the ball rolling while spelling some Sanskrit mantras that, except for few, no body understood. The most frustrating part is sitting with Apurva & her parents on a low chair (pee-Tha) that hardly accommodates 3.
Pandit started working on 'Lagna Patrika', where he wrote in applicable honor in front of my last name. So, dad took things in hands and started writing. Funniest thing is he got everything right except for my name, not once but twice. Well, finally he stroke off and re-wrote the name again.
After this part, video & photo graphers are in hurry to finish of their job as they got business to do elsewhere. So, we started to have group photos. My brother's & his wife, Lakshmi Pavani, pushed Apurva & me to get some snaps as in Photo Studio. Though a bit hesitant, we did as they told and started loving it as photos turned up good.
Through out the day, Apurva was feeling a bit uneasy and later understood that it's because of the stupid make up she got from her pinni to cover up patch of kajal she smeared around her eye. After the heavy lunch, here comes the wrost part - seek blessings(bend & touch elders feet while knees on the ground). Though it's a customary and a good practice, it looked as if all the elders have been waiting for it.
After bending for approx 60 times, I was about to puke all the stuff I had. Thank god that couple of our relatives didn't show up, or else situation would have be different. At last, Apurva and I got some time to chat. We exchanged our soft drinks & rings and planned to meet again as she would be taking off from her busy work schedule.
