Never ending shopping ...
Whenever a desi goes their homeland, first thing they might do is shop for garments / cloth material. Not to mention that I am committed right now, my family members would make me buy even if I insist. Well, I am not a fool to say no when I get better quality of material for way less price compared to what I get in NJ.
I came to know the amount we spent on dressings alone is 50% of marriage costs. At first, I thought that prices could be too high. However, later I came to know that .. on marriage occasion, we need to purchase clothes for all the couples from Mom's & Dad's siblings and their spouse as well. Intrigued? Yeah me too. No wonder it costs that much. On top that for my elder brother's marriage, I also came to know that my dad bought travel tickets for all the relatives. ufff ... I don't know whom to call crazy.
Anyways, my brother and I bought about 24 pairs of cloth material in 20 min. That was quick however for the womens section, mom & her team bought 5 pairs in 3 hours. I was pissed off as I haven't had lunch and it's already 3 PM. The only reason we pushed ourselves to limits is because - 'If we have break for lunch, they might shop more with regained energy'. Understanding the scenario, I went out and had 2 full glasses of sugar cane juice to give me some strength. The whole day lasted as if shopping would never end.
