Host PC support team frustrates me
Last time when I pointed out that I was having Issues with Host PC - web host provider, I did mention that I got frustrated with their support. I was trying to be patient for 5 long days and finally decided to leave Host PC, when I got - "I don't care what their instructions say" response from Joseph. All throughout the process I never asked for 777 permission, I was trying to understand "acceptable folder permissions for Word Press" and never got any response other than "We would not allow 777".
Here are a few snippets of my conversation with the support team member - Joseph.
"If you make a fresh install through installatron, the .../wp-content/uploads folder got chmod 777. Since you would not allow 777, 'I am not asking for 777 as well', someone has to change the permission to something other than 777 to make the upload / add image functionality work. So please recommend those settings" - Shyam
"We have many hundreds of wordpress installs @ hostpc, none REQUIRE 777 to work, " - Joseph
"All I am asking is simple question, 755/owned by {user_account} is not working for me. Please recommend which chmod/chown on hundreds of wordpress installs @ hostpc works?" - Shyam
When I forwarded Changing File Permissions link to Joseph, I got - "I don't care what their instructions say ... Period." - Joseph
"Not that you care anyways, I did my research on internet and wordpress.org, they suggest to chown the directory to apache with 770 and that's why I created the ticket. If my request to chown the directory to apache is - big pain in butt to deal with - then let me know, I wouldn't waste any of your / my time." - Shyam
"We can't allow that, ownership of apache would allow you to bypass your disk enforced quotas under your username." - Joseph
Seriously, can't Host PC read my comments properly? Anyways, bottom line is screw Host PC, I would be moving to new host provider soon.
