Telugu movies titles - are just for hype
Back in 1997, when Chiranjeevi was giving flop after flop, director Muthyala Subbaiah gave a break with Hitler. Madhava Rao (Chiranjeevi character name), AKA Hitler, is well known for hardened and personality with strict principels. Though his principals and attitude costs his sisters, the story concludes that he is quite concerned about the family and finally wins the hearts of his sisters. So, why it is named Hitler? Don't ask me, get response from Chiru fans. :-)
During those days I was pretty busy with the high school and preparations for EAMCET exams. Just like others, I was more interested with Chiranjeevi's dance for 'habee bee' song than to think about 'What on earth makes someone feel Hitler title would be appropriate for this movie.'
Times passed and Tamil Director, A. R. Murugadoss, is giving much hype for his next movie, Stalin, with Chiranjeevi as lead role. I watched this movie couple of months ago and amazed to see the crowd @ Edison movie theaters, NJ. The Director, known for his movie: Ghajini (Inspired by Memento), claims that he was inspired by the crowd that attended the 100-day celebration of Chiranjeevi's film Indra at Vijayawada [1]. It was indeed a good way to give hype about the movie where as the truth is he was inspired by yet another English movie Pay It Forward.
Forget about Tollywood and Bollywood pulling the stories from English movies, what I do NOT understand why some of these movies have titles no way relevant to personality in the story.
Recently, I came across a documentary about Adolf Hitler, and Joseph Stalin. I thought of knowing more about these personalities and watched Hitler the Downfall, and Rise of Hitler a documentary. These videos showered some light on Hitler history. and clearly proved that above mentioned Chiranjeevi movie titles makes no sense.
With 5 songs - 25 min., 2 fights - 20 min., intro & climax - 40 min., comedy - 20 min. in an average Telugu movie hardly have time for the core story. May be that's way Telugu movie industry is much inclined to give hype with the title than to name them in accordance with the story lineup, as they got no story in first place.
