Boston Trip 2006
Boston Trip 2006
I got an invitation from my friend, Krishna Kishore Pulakandham, to visit Boston on week before Thanksgiving. We were exited about the trip as it's been more than 2.5 year we met. Vijay agreed to come along and headed to Boston at 10 AM after unexpected delays.
Later that evening we had pretty good dinner at Nepali restaurant and headed towards a party to booze and dance. The party started off rocking once our DJ, Shashank Maniar, started spinning the mouse over his Virtual DJ player. It's been almost 2 years I had fun of this scale.
Not used to sleepovers, I felt tired and spoke with parents back in India for a while and had nap for an hour. When I returned back, everyone was tired and over drunk, except for Winnie (still stable and rocking). Finally we dropped off some of Kishore's friends and slept at 5 AM in the morning.
Next day we didn't get much chance to speak with Krishna left for appointment with a Kid, as a part of his Community service. Not knowing what to do till he returns we thought of going for Casino Royale movie. We missed the theater despite the fact that we took some directions. We further mislead by, not one but by 3, persons to a different theater in downtown Boston. We got stuck up in traffic and took about 2 hours to come out.
As we couldn't figure out where the theater we thought of heading back to Jersey. But our stuff is locked out in Krishna's apartment and on top of that is out for a date with the Kid :-) So, having no options left and with strong will we found out the way to Theater. The movie was Ok.
With 50 degree inclination at the theater exit and a toll booth immediately past the inclination, most of them are having problems getting along with it. First time in my life, I used both the brakes and gas at the same time. We started off to Jersey after picking our stuff from Krishna's house.
For a moment I rolled back to days when I was at school. The hard hit economy forced us to care more about the studies, work and earnings for monthly bills. Forget about tuition bills, they are beyond our scope of imagination to earn. May be if I had tuition fee waiver and stipend I would have had as much as fun as these guys did last night. I also learnt that Boston is full of young students and women to men ratio around 3:1. It’s the place to be – if I want to hang around with 3 chicks, at least in my wild dreams.
I had great time during the party, got along the downtown and surrounding cities without any navigator help and learnt a new driving skill during stalled traffic over 50 degree inclination road. If I haven't gone to Boston that weekend, I would have missed all the above. Thanks Pulakandham.
