Save your work in multiple locations
Yesterday, I was searching something on Google and came across Nishant Mehta's bookmark page, showing my name in reference articles for C++ STL tutorial. Around 3 years back, I wrote that article at my school website. Unfortunately, NJIT has cleared up all the disk space allocated to alumni students. So, I lost all my articles for STL tutorial and data structure to store very large numbers and my research work.
About 5 years back, I have posted couple of articles including various methods to generate prime numbers on Planet Source Code I also lost those articles, when planet source code servers were affected by deadly storm. I contacted site creator, Ian Ippolito, about it and got reply that 'all articles were restored from backup servers. So, if your article was not found - it was never submitted.' That reply looked a bit weird as, for prime number generation article, I was one of the leading persons for 'article of the month' contest in C programming language category.
So, losing written articles ain't no new thing for me. Also for the readers, if you got a backup somewhere, I sincerely request for these articles. Finally a dumb advice, unlike me, please save your work in multiple locations.
Let's hope that I will not loose any articles further.
Thank you
