House of flying goons - movie industry
Back in the days, 20 years ago, Bollywood and Tollywood movies have common trend. The trend was the hero in his childhood times would have hard time for some reason and wants to take revenge upon the obvious cause, the Villain. The kid of early teenage throws a ball / coin up in the air, title comes in a momentary pause and a grownup man catches it. Now the Hero is ready for action.
This has been done with a different logic in many movies. Hero is shown as grown man while running, kicking the coke can, wakeup from a nightmare etc. However, this trend got changed around 10 years ago.
So the new trend was the Heroine would be trapped by goons for some action. While these are busy tearing small pieces of her clothes, a rolling beer bottle distracts them and our Hero enters the screen from darkness. A confident goon tries to handle him. Bang ... he fly’s of couple of feet for the power punch delivered by hero.
Not just in Telugu or Bollywood movies, I recently saw the same scenario in WWE, A member of Spirit squad fly’s of 10 feet and Shawn Michaels enters the arena to save his buddy, Triple H from rest of the Spirit Squad members. Stuff like this definitely looks cool, at least for that moment.
I recently also learnt that the power punch of the hero is based on the industry experience of the hero. Probably you know, Arjun Allu who whoop ass the villain, Mukesh Rishi, in the movie Bunny. If a hero with 2.5 year industrial experience hits a goon and he fly’s of 10 foot away, then for Chiranjeevi, having 10 times experience as Allu does, the goons should fly off till 100 foot. Since Chiranjeevi, A.K.A The Mega Star, has huge fan following making the goon flew away 150 feet might make more sense and lives up to his standards and fans expectations.
Yeah I understand that it makes no sense for you and me but perfectly acceptable for some Telugu movie goers. You don't trust me? Consider Tamil Hero, Vijaykanth. he gained pretty good experiences and makes a goon flew away (without even touching him) while adjusting his mustache. Still can't believe me? Look at the video
May be in next couple of, when most of the Hero's gain as much experience as Vijaykanth does then probably Indian movies could be 'House of Flying Goons'
