I guess sometime during may 2003, while leaving to my cousin’ house in California, I keyed my last one.

On 05th october 2004, 13.00 hr I was waiting at the B22 gate in Toronto, Canada air port to get onto my scheduled flight for Calgary, Canada. The jetsgo flight is all set except for the oxygen containers. At first it sounded scary. Why would oxygen cylinders / containers needs to be refilled? Does this flight uses the oxygen containers that often (because of low pressure and emergencies)? However, after realizing that they are precautions enough, I felt a bit eaze. I already sat there for an hour reading intersting article about the Quake III game over LAN competition in pc gamer magazine. Since it’s been awhile reading some material for more than hour, I was thinking about doing something that makes me feel more comfortable.

Suddenly something popped into my mind, idea of writing, may be piece of crap. I kept thinking for awhile what should I write. Luckly, the oxygen carrying trucks have come and refilled the containers in my flight. Passengers were allowed to board into the flight. I was given seat 1A, the very first seat, somewhat comfortable as I got plenty of leg room.

I enjoyed my previous flight from Newark to Toronto. The weather was perfect, sunny and pleasant. However it was so parched that I need to have lot of water. Inspite of having apple juice 20 min before the departure, my throat was so dry that I could not resist my thirst anymore. So I pressed the request for attendant button.

The air hostes showed up after takeoff and when I requested for driking water, she replied that jetsgo services would be available shortly, please wait for couple of minutes. Alright, I got nothing but to wait her to showup with their so called ‘services’. Well after 10 minutes the attandants have shownup with the list of menu. I ordered water and vegitable cocktail. It’s kinda of ‘distinct service’ that JetsGo airlines offer and I realized that only when they billed 2$ USD for a glass of water. Nevermind, I had all of the 300 ml water to quench my thirst. Then opened the bottled vegitable cocktail.

With good mood to write my views, I opened the laptop and started typing enthusiastically. Thought of having an sip of veg-cocktail before keying any further. Suddenly, What in the hell is this vegitable cocktail is made off? Oh man .. it was so crap that I exceeded beyond my expectations of crappyness. So, I backed up my self with another coke and continued typing. Well, what should I write? Hmm … let’s write about the trip Calgary.

I started off to US consulate in Calgary, Canada for my H1-B visa stamping. Everything is planned well in quite a short time and was lucky enough to get appointment within 4 weekdays. The other day, as soon as my appointment was fixed, I left to Canadian consulate in New York City for Canadian visitors visa. Unlike others visitors, requiring visa to see the Niagra Falls, I was going to Canada to appear for U.S visa with an Indian passport.

Fortunately, I got the Canadian visa, inspite of carrying copy of my I-797 document. The consulor expected an orginal document and said “originals please”. I said that document is original. She got fired up and said “this is not originial”. Oh man, I was so tensed at that time and showed her rest of the original documents proving my status in visa, and financial ability to live in Canada. Finally, she told me to collect the documents at the end of the day and warned me to show the I-797 originals at the U.S consulate. Though the copy documents are so real that anyone could easily get confused, it’s my mistake, as I havent analysed how far those documents are original.

Unaware of how the original document looks like, I just cared about the paper and print quality. But the Canadian consular, whoes expertise are in evaluting the presented documents, identified that it as copy. Infact, I really thank her for notifying me. Hadn’t she notified me about this, I would have gone to U.S consulate with copy of i-797 which would have diminished the chances getting U.S visa.

After going home, I rummaged allover documents in my room and finally got it along with my driving licenses application. I realized that I took the original document along for drivig license renewal. Couple of hours later, my other friends came in and wondered with the way my room looked. Well it’s a mess, but it was NOT unusual for me.

Within next two days, I booked flight tickets to calgary, Days Inn hotel for two nights of stay, gathered and arragned all my documents in an expandable 26 folder bought at K-Mart just for this purpose. It’s a nice folder using which one can easily organize his/her documents under specific folder identified by labels. I have organized all the documents in a sequence so that I can easily look under the label and provide the document requested by the consulate officer.

Oh, the flight is about to land. I am going to finish it off soon. Wish me luck.

– Shyam K. Arjarapu

Part 01. ehh?
